Is Fulshear Youth Basketball a for-profit organization?
No, we believe that recreational sports should never be about profit. FYB is proudly a non-profit organization committed to providing a high-quality, community-focused basketball league for generations to come.

Is Fulshear Youth Basketball locally owned and operated?
Yes! FYB is rooted in the Fulshear community. We are locally owned, operated, and powered by a team of dedicated local volunteers.

Does FYB have registration boundaries?
Fulshear Youth Basketball welcomes all kids who want to play basketball, regardless of location.

How old do my kids need to be to play?
Children must be between 5 and 16 years old. The age matrix will help determine their division.

Can my child play in a lower division?
No, but your child may play in a higher division if they wish.
​
How many players are on a team?
Roster sizes vary by division, so it really depends on their age.

Does FYB hold try-outs?
No, try-outs are not required. Teams are formed by the league to ensure fairness and accessibility for all players.

Can I request a friend, sibling, or coach?
Yes, but not all requests can be fulfilled, and there are no refunds if requests are not met.

Can I register a club team?
No, FYB is a recreational league and does not allow participation of club or select teams. Players from club/select teams are welcome to join FYB, but will be rostered to keep the divisions balanced.

Will my child be placed on a team in our area?
We do our best to form teams with the athlete's address in mind, so it’s likely they will be on a local team.

Are there sibling discounts?
Yes, sibling discounts are automatically applied during the registration of the second (or subsequent) family member. Please note that each player must be registered and checked out individually for the discount to apply.

When do games take place?
Games are held on Saturdays.
What are the game times?
Games run from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM.

Where are the games played?
All games are held at a location to be announced (TBA).

Is Fulshear Youth Basketball co-ed?
Players are separated into boys' or girls' divisions to ensure proper skill development and equitable access to sports, whenever possible.

Will my child be guaranteed play time?
Yes, in the younger divisions playtime is guaranteed. However, the older division do not have playtime requirements. There are always medical and safety exemptions to this rule.

How many divisions/teams are there?
The number of teams depends on registration numbers, and birth years may be combined to balance competition.

How many weeks are in the season?
A season consists of 8 regular-season games, plus 1-3 playoff games.

Is there a wait list?
Yes, once the league reaches capacity. The wait list is free and operates on a first-come, first-served basis.

What equipment do we need to purchase?
Non-marking athletic shoes.
​
What does the league provide?
FYB provides each athlete with a branded jersey.

Does FYB have a refund policy?
Yes, but only in special circumstances. Contact league@fulshearbasketball.com for more information.

Where do teams practice, and how often?
Practice times and locations are set by the league. FYB will try to choose convenient weeknight schedules, but it's up to parents to ensure their player can attend.

Are the coaches trained and trustworthy?
Yes, all coaches pass a rigorous background check and are certified to coach basketball. Coach concerns can be directed to compliance@fulshearbasketball.com.

What should I do if I have concerns about my coach's behavior?
All FYB coaches face disciplinary actions for any inappropriate behavior. If you're concerned about a coach's conduct, please email compliance@fulshearbasketball.com.

Can spectators be ejected?
Yes, inappropriate conduct can result in ejection and further disciplinary action, including permanent suspension. Report any incidents to compliance@fulshearbasketball.com.

What happens if a referee makes a bad call?
Mistakes happen in all sports. Spectators must accept that referees are human and imperfect.

Am I able to speak with the ref?
No, only coaches or team captains may address referees. Spectators may direct any concerns to the Head Referee via ref@fulshearbasketball.com. Remember, all on-court calls are final—there are no replays or reversals.
